The campaign has made a difference across the University’s historic Grounds.

Alumni Association

The Alumni Association strengthens the University and its work and helps develop the bond between the University and its alumni. The Alumni Association also assists and encourages connections between alumni and students, cosponsors alumni-student job fairs, administers the U.Va. Fund, houses the Jefferson Scholars Program, publishes the Virginia Magazine, and oversees other important initiatives and activities.

Arts

To address issues of insufficient teaching and rehearsal space and limited performance venues, the University completed the Betsy and John Casteen Arts Grounds, which encompass new, expanded, and renovated structures for the fine and performing arts. more >

Athletics

The Virginia Athletics Foundation, through its fundraising efforts, strives to support a preeminent intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Virginia by providing student-athletes the opportunity to achieve academic and athletic excellence. For many student-athletes, an athletics scholarship is the key that opens the door to the exceptional college education offered at the University. more >

Center for Politics

The Center for Politics is an interdisciplinary, nonpartisan unit of the University dedicated to the proposition that government works better when politics works better. To strengthen American democracy, the Center for Politics promotes the value of politics and seeks to improve civic education and increase civic participation through comprehensive research, pragmatic analysis, and innovative educational programs. more >

Health System

Creating powerful new models for patient care, education, and research requires facilities designed for these innovations. New buildings now house state-of-the-art cancer care and consolidated children’s outpatient services. Additional buildings for medical and nursing education and two new research facilities have helped the U.Va. Health System build for the future. more >

Jefferson Scholars Foundation

Thomas Jefferson believed that individual talent and initiative must be the chief qualifications for leadership; and he envisioned the University of Virginia as a training ground for those who would take on the burdens of responsibility in a free society. Mr. Jefferson’s goal of nurturing future leaders is at the heart of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. more >

Jeffersonian Grounds Initiative

The University has embarked on a comprehensive effort to ensure that the architectural legacy of Thomas Jefferson and his successors continues to inspire and sustain the pursuit of knowledge. Although restoring and preserving Jeffersonian structures is central to this endeavor, it also entails the conservation of later buildings that are essential to the quality of life at the University. more >

Library

In every era since Thomas Jefferson created it in the Rotunda, the University Library has been at the heart of the educational experience for faculty and students. Today, the Library enjoys international recognition for its collections of rare materials, exceptional public service, and innovative use of technology to advance research, teaching, and learning. more >

Miller Center

The Miller Center, following Thomas Jefferson’s vision of the University’s public service mission, is a leading public policy institution. The center is a national meeting place where engaged citizens, scholars, students, media representatives, and government officials gather in a spirit of nonpartisan consensus to research, reflect, and report on issues of national importance. more >

Research 

The campaign to support University research efforts emphasized support of programs and people that build capacity and sustained excellence in science, technology and collaborative research spanning all other fields. In particular, the campaign helped solidify existing areas of strength in basic sciences and engineering, and expand selectively in promising new areas that will distinguish U.Va. as a thought leader, produce societal benefit and transform the higher educational experience. more >
