Look Inside a Lawn Room

Look Inside a
Lawn Room

Question: With all of the residential amenities available today, why would 54 UVA students want to live in spartan 19th-century rooms not much bigger than a walk-in closet?

Answer: Well, if the rooms were designed by Thomas Jefferson, are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, and have a front-door view of the Rotunda, then a Lawn room may be the most desirable real estate at UVA.

Living on the Lawn was the most amazing experience. It was truly a gift. I think about it every day.”

——Dr. Susan Buenaventura (Col ’80)
