Principal Gifts Officer
Andy Selfridge has a long standing relationship with the University of Virginia. He first came to Grounds as a scholarship football player and returned years later as a Regional Development Officer. His initial goal was to learn the ropes of fundraising and move to a foundation or unit at UVA More than two decades later he remains an integral part of our central development team, where he now focuses on principal gifts.
Andy quickly discovered how much he enjoyed the variety and diversity that being a part of our central organization afforded him. He enjoys working with all of our schools and programs and connecting with faculty, deans and alumni of these various entities. He finds the team atmosphere that is cultivated in central appealing, as it allows him to collaborate with his colleagues in University Advancement and those across Grounds. Partnerships with Law, Nursing, Historic Preservation, Jefferson Scholars and Athletics, among others, have all proved productive and rewarding as Andy works to engage our alumni and serve the University.
Andy is passionate about his role at UVA “It doesn’t feel like work. It’s such a special place, a great University with a great mission. I’m working for the home team!”, he says. He shares that his “decision to return to the University is one that has paid dividends in the long run, in so many ways”.
