The University serves Virginia, the nation, and the world by preparing responsible citizen-leaders; advancing, preserving, and disseminating knowledge; and providing world-class patient care.
All gifts of any kind help secure the University’s place as a premier institution of learning and make it possible for our students, faculty, and researchers to shape a brighter future.
You can give to all 12 schools across Grounds. The possibilities are endless for supporting our students, faculty, and programs. Together, we will find the way forward.
You can join the growing number of alumni and friends who invest now in the University’s future by including UVA as a beneficiary of their wills, charitable trusts, and retirement plans. Gifts like these can offer you and your family significant tax benefits as well as greater financial flexibility in meeting your personal and philanthropic goals.
The Honor the Future campaign, the largest in University history, concluded in 2025, thanks to thousands of loyal supporters. Its impact on students, faculty, facilities, and research reaches across Charlottesville, Wise County, and Northern Virginia as it continues to advance the school in its third century of service to the commonwealth, nation, and world.
Now more than ever, student health and wellness is a key priority for the University. As UVA’s population has grown in recent years, so has the demand for a more comprehensive program of student health and wellness services. That demand is about to be met, thanks to the generous gifts and support from the UVA community.
Designed by VMDO and Duda Paine Architects, the new Student Health and Wellness Center will be a four-story, 160,000-square-foot facility providing core health services, as well as a variety of wellness resources. Opening in summer 2021, the center will be in the Brandon Avenue Green Street district, adjacent to a new upper-class housing building and along a new “green street,” a redesigned streetscape with open spaces and stormwater management landscaping.
The project’s design team is pursuing the International WELL Building Institute’s WELL Building Standard Certification, which assesses a building’s positive impact on the health of its occupants. This certification includes the highest standards for air and water quality as well as the availability of exterior views of nature and contemplative and community spaces. The building will also incorporate sustainable elements in anticipation of achieving U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.
Initially funded with a $40 million lead gift from an anonymous donor, the $100 million Student Health and Wellness Center project also received $30 million in University support as well as $8 million in other commitments.
