The University serves Virginia, the nation, and the world by preparing responsible citizen-leaders; advancing, preserving, and disseminating knowledge; and providing world-class patient care.
All gifts of any kind help secure the University’s place as a premier institution of learning and make it possible for our students, faculty, and researchers to shape a brighter future.
You can give to all 12 schools across Grounds. The possibilities are endless for supporting our students, faculty, and programs. Together, we will find the way forward.
You can join the growing number of alumni and friends who invest now in the University’s future by including UVA as a beneficiary of their wills, charitable trusts, and retirement plans. Gifts like these can offer you and your family significant tax benefits as well as greater financial flexibility in meeting your personal and philanthropic goals.
The Honor the Future campaign, the largest in University history, concluded in 2025, thanks to thousands of loyal supporters. Its impact on students, faculty, facilities, and research reaches across Charlottesville, Wise County, and Northern Virginia as it continues to advance the school in its third century of service to the commonwealth, nation, and world.
Enhancing the Student Experience
The UVA Parents Program enhances the student experience through annual gifts from parents of current and former students. Directed by the UVA Parents Council, the Parents Program supports student clubs and cultural events, academic enhancement programs and career services, health and wellness initiatives, and class dinners and traditions that enrich student life across Grounds.
Through gifts to the Parents Fund, the Parents Program directly enhances student life through three core priorities:
Learn More
Unrestricted support for the Division of Student Affairs ensures that UVA can continue to meet the current and emerging needs of students. From well-being and mental health resources to academic support, career development, housing, leadership programs, cultural engagement, and UVA’s most beloved traditions, Student Affairs is central to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where students can thrive—now and in the future.
Additional initiatives that extend the Parents Fund’s impact:
To support outstanding performance and continued intellectual growth, the Parents Program offers two scholarships, both awarded each spring to rising third-year students for a portion of their third- and fourth-year tuition and fees. Recipients are chosen based on demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, and financial need.
The UVA Parents Program has created the Rainy Day Fund as part of Hoo Needs Help, offering critical support to undergraduate students in need. This endowment is dedicated to assisting students facing sudden and severe financial hardships by covering costs that aren’t met by other University resources.
UVA’s excellence in academics is matched by its distinctive student experience. The UVA Parents Program is dedicated to providing a margin of excellence to make the student experience even better.
Scholarships
The Gilbert J. Sullivan Scholarship and the Gordon C. Burris Scholarship are awarded to rising third-year students who have a demonstrated record of citizenship, leadership, academic achievement, and financial need.
Grants
Providing grants helps us enhance the undergraduate student experience. We have allocated more than $1 million across Grounds annually for the last several academic years.
“So much of the learning that takes place in college happens outside of the classroom, and the Parents Council supports organizations and initiatives that provide these valuable experiences.”
