Who We Are

Levels of Involvement

  • Parents Program Families make a gift to the Parents Program. Gifts of all sizes matter.
  • Parents Council Families make leadership annual gifts of $2,500 or more to the Parents Program.
  • Executive Council Families are selected based on their expressed interest in becoming more involved with the Parents Program through additional commitments of time, talent, and treasure. The Executive Council is responsible for determining which student groups are awarded grants and for selecting Parents Program scholarship recipients.
  • Co-chairs participate in monthly calls and lead our biannual meetings. Two in-state and out-of-state families serve in each of the following roles for one-year terms: incoming, current, and past.

Every gift, no matter the size, shows how much our alumni, friends, and supporters of the University value the student experience and how much they appreciate the work that we do.

UVA Parents Program Committee

For more than 30 years, the UVA Parents Program Committee has served the University and helped to enrich the experience of its students.

In 1980, a group of non-alumni parents recognized the University of Virginia’s need for expanded external support and formed the Parents Program of the University of Virginia Fund. The program now includes alumni and non-alumni parents and has been renamed the UVA Parents Program Committee. Our Committee member parents share an interest in maintaining the high quality academic and extracurricular programs that attract their sons and daughters to the University. This volunteer group receives and coordinates gifts from families who share a commitment to sustaining UVA’s undergraduate experience through fundraising activities, grants, and thoughtful input. Our program helps make the large university that is UVA feel smaller—for parents, and for our students.

The Parents Program Committee has provided support for more than 1,500 student-led groups, programs, and organizations, as well as University programs that directly benefit student life through Parents Program Grants.
