Bicentennial Scholars

OVERVIEW

The moment that shaped their future

In celebration of the University’s 200th anniversary of its founding, we made a commitment to realize student potential by creating the Bicentennial Scholars Fund for scholarship support. The success of this program continues to increase opportunities for deserving students.

In January 2023, President Jim Ryan announced $35 million in additional matching funds for gifts to Bicentennial Scholarships to foster excellence and diversity within the undergraduate student body and encourage student success.

Gifts to support outstanding students from all backgrounds received significant matching funds from UVA for investments in the Bicentennial Scholars Fund. All matching funds for creating Bicentennial Scholarships have been utilized.

The Bicentennial Scholars Fund—through a combination of private philanthropy and matching dollars—is on track to surpass our $750 million goal for the initiative, creating over 750 endowed scholarship funds.

We are grateful for the generous support, which will continue to benefit future generations of UVA students.

Javor Bicentennial Scholarship, Rodgers concentrated in design thinking. Now she’s creating engaging and equitable student spaces in colleges around the country.
