Kayleigh Roy (Architecture ’15) knew she wanted to make a difference. As an undergraduate studying urban and environmental planning, she dreamed of one day serving her community in a meaningful way.
Now, having recently participated in Challenge Detroit, a leadership and professional development program geared toward reinvigorating the Motor City, she’s making her dream a reality.
As part of her fellowship, Kayleigh committed to living in Detroit for a year—working with a host company, providing pro bono help to public schools and boosting small business development.
Kayleigh credits her UVA scholarship with allowing her the freedom to pursue her unique path. “I had a low number of loans when I graduated. If not for my scholarship, I wouldn’t have been financially stable.”
