In honor of his 50th reunion year, Ev Micou (Arch ‘69) and his wife, Jane Warner Micou, of Paradise Valley, Arizona, have included in their estate plans a $1 million gift to support graduate students in the School of Architecture. His first-year Bonnycastle roommate was from Arizona, and Micou visited there once while on holiday. And, despite being a tenth-generation born-and-raised Virginian, Micou moved to the Arizona desert upon graduating, where he practiced architecture until retiring in 2002 as President and CEO of Micou Design Group.
In creating the endowed fellowship—to be called the E. Venable “Ev” Micou Endowed Fellowship in Architecture—to aid students from western states and promote the Architecture School’s appeal in the western U.S., the Micous have added a preference for meritorious students from states west of the Mississippi River whenever possible.
“The A-School gave me the design tools and inspiration to help build Phoenix into the major metropolitan center it is today, and we are honored to be able to fund the school in supporting aspiring architects in like endeavors,” Micou said.
