The University serves Virginia, the nation, and the world by preparing responsible citizen-leaders; advancing, preserving, and disseminating knowledge; and providing world-class patient care.
All gifts of any kind help secure the University’s place as a premier institution of learning and make it possible for our students, faculty, and researchers to shape a brighter future.
You can give to all 12 schools across Grounds. The possibilities are endless for supporting our students, faculty, and programs. Together, we will find the way forward.
You can join the growing number of alumni and friends who invest now in the University’s future by including UVA as a beneficiary of their wills, charitable trusts, and retirement plans. Gifts like these can offer you and your family significant tax benefits as well as greater financial flexibility in meeting your personal and philanthropic goals.
The Honor the Future campaign, the largest in University history, concluded in 2025, thanks to thousands of loyal supporters. Its impact on students, faculty, facilities, and research reaches across Charlottesville, Wise County, and Northern Virginia as it continues to advance the school in its third century of service to the commonwealth, nation, and world.
—it is the living heart of the University’s story. It connects Hoos across time and place, sustaining the bonds that shape who we are and who we become. Together, we’re building a future where every alum feels that pulse—strong, steady, and forever tied to UVA.
The UVA Alumni Association is an independent, alumni-led organization dedicated to serving and representing all Hoos. Our purpose is to ignite lifelong engagement, strengthen the bonds among Hoos, and deepen alumni pride and love of the University.
Our work is defined and made possible by meaningful, long-term relationships. We first meet alumni as students, proudly serving each new class of Hoos as they navigate their undergraduate experience. We go on to welcome our newest graduates into the ranks of the UVA alumni community, providing opportunities for career networking and moments of reconnection through Young Alumni Reunions. In the decades that follow, we create ongoing opportunities for engagement and support through signature programs like Reunions, Virginia Magazine, College Compass, Alumni Interest Groups, and more. Through these offerings, we strive to ensure that every Hoo feels a lasting sense of belonging to this remarkable community.
Our work is also defined and made possible by your generosity. Your contributions during the Honor the Future Campaign have allowed the Alumni Association—and by extension, our ~270,000 alumni—to thrive, strengthen bonds, and drive impact across the University community. Because of your philanthropy, the Alumni Association is entering a new and exciting chapter, marked by the start of construction on a new Alumni Hall.
Thank you for believing in our work and investing in our future. It is an honor and a privilege to serve our vast and vibrant alumni community.
With great appreciation,
Lily West President & CEO, UVA Alumni Association
Expanding Experiences
“The public launch of Honor the Future in 2019 coincided with another great unveiling—the Rotunda Planetarium. Mr. Jefferson dreamed of using the dome room ceiling as a planetarium, but it didn’t happen until 200 years later through a Jefferson Trust grant.”
Brent Percival Executive Director, The Jefferson Trust

The Rotunda Planetarium was one of the over 250 grants totaling over $11 million that the Jefferson Trust made over the past ten years. These investments were fueled by the generous contributions of the organization’s donors and the commitment of its trustees who make grant decisions. These alumni, parents, and friends of the University have helped enhance UVA and enrich the student experience.
