UVA Class Reunions Update
In partnership with the University, the Alumni Association has made the difficult decision to postpone Reunions 2020 to next year. With UVA summer programs halted through June 30, the Virginia governor banning gatherings of more than 10 people and instituting shelter-in-place restrictions, and with public health our top priority, we saw no other option.
We’re moving the celebrations for the class years ending in -0 and -5 to June 2021, combining those events with the reunions planned for the class years ending in -1 and -6. For those classes affected, reunions staff will be in touch with more information in the coming weeks, including details about full refunds for this year’s celebration. You can learn more about reunions plans, as well as other resources available through the Alumni Association website. If you have questions regarding reunion giving, staff contact information is available on each class page. We all hope you and your family are staying safe and well.
Come Back, Give Back
Your reunion year provides an excellent opportunity to support the University in a way that is personally meaningful to you. Your gift can be designated to your school, presidential priorities, scholarships, athletics, or any initiative across Grounds.
Five-year pledges offer steady support for the University, and the entire pledge amount counts towards your class totals. Thank you for taking time to consider your gift to the University in honor of your reunion.
Class Giving Counts!
Gifts and pledges to all University-related schools and programs during the fiscal year are recognized in the class total, which is measured in two ways: total dollars contributed and class participation rate. The fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
There are many ways to support your class effort. Reunion giving recognizes contributions made to the annual fund, as well as endowment gifts, capital gifts, and planned gifts and bequests.
You can make your payments online with a credit card, or you can give cash, stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares.
Reunion Giving Committees reflect the top student activities and school makeup of each class during its time on Grounds and comprise 35–100 undergraduate alumni per class. The Giving Committees are responsible for encouraging classmates to come back to Grounds to celebrate their class reunion and to support the University by giving back to an area that is meaningful to them. Giving Committee volunteers work throughout the year to successfully help the class achieve and exceed fundraising and giving goals.
To the extent that you enjoy value from your years on Grounds, please consider supporting the University and giving back to an
