Lilian Shackelford Murray

Ms. Murray is a Board Director of Arcadia Biosciences (NASDAQ: RKDA) serving on the Audit and Compensation committees. She founded Dovedale Investments, an investment management firm in 2011. Ms. Murray has been active in the financial markets for over 30 years. Throughout her career, she has completed public and private transactions valued at over $3.3 billion. 

In addition to Dovedale Investments, Ms. Murray has been a Managing Director at Saints Capital since 2002. Saints Capital acquires and manages direct secondary venture capital and private equity investments. As part of the Saints Capital investment committee, she influenced the acquisition, disposal and management of over 150 equity investments totaling approximately $500 million. She expects to complete her responsibilities with Saints in 2018. 

Ms. Murray has previously served on the boards of privately-held eMedicine, a physician based content provider, which was sold to WebMD; ECIN, a healthcare information company that was sold to AllScripts; and LifeMasters, a disease management company. She was a Board Observer at PatientKeeper, a healthcare information company that was sold to the hospital chain, HCA. 

At Saints, Ms. Murray has had direct investing responsibility for healthcare information companies: Emageon (EMAG), Provation (sold to Wolters Kluwer), and Passport Health (sold to financial investors). Medical device investments included Coapt Systems (sold to Microaire Surgical), Notal Vision, MedVantx, Point Biomedical, R2 Medical (sold to Hologic), and Zonare (sold to Mindray Medical). Biotech investments included Acorda (ACOR), Biolex, Illumina (ILMN), Locus Pharmaceuticals and Raven Biotech, which was sold to MacroGenics (MGNX). 

Prior to Saints, she was a Managing Director in investment banking at Prudential Volpe Technology Group, which was created with the purchase of Volpe Brown Whelan by Prudential Securities. At Volpe Brown Whelan, she was a Managing Director and a member of the firm's Underwriting Commitment Committee. Before Volpe, Ms. Murray was a Managing Director at Wheat First Securities and a Senior Vice President at Dean Witter Reynolds. She began her investment banking career at E.F. Hutton. 

She just completed her chairmanship of the Investment Committee and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of Woodberry Forest School, and was the board’s prior Audit Chair. She served nine years on the board. In addition, she serves on the investment committees for the Marin Community Foundation, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the YWCA of San Francisco. She is chair of the Investment Committee of the Hualalai Ohana Foundation and was the prior Governance chair. She has previously served on the Investment Committee of the Episcopal Church of North America (DFMS) and as a past member of the University of Virginia McIntire School’s Advisory Board. Ms. Murray received her Master in Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. She has a B.S. Commerce degree from the University of Virginia.
