Cole Rozwadowski (ARC’26)

Cole, who was awarded as our Burris Scholar in 2024, is pursing a degree in Architecture with triple minors in Architectural History, Global Sustainability, and Urban & Environmental Planning.

As he enters his fourth year at UVA, Cole Rozwadowski reflects on a transformative and demanding third year marked by leadership, creativity, and academic achievement. He stepped into a new role as one of the Public Arts Pathway Co-Leads on the Public Service Pathways Student Advisory Council, where he led workshops on community engagement and service-minded leadership. One of his standout contributions was helping organize a public art installation—signed by Mayor Juandiego Wade—that was featured at the Peace Up, Guns Down Rally in November 2024, an event spearheaded by Professor Brian Williams.

Cole also deepened his passion for design education by joining the teaching team as a student instructor assistant for two courses in the School of Architecture: ARCH 2070: Empathic Design and ARCH 2715: Elements of Design. These experiences have inspired him to consider a future in design education.

His third year was also filled with notable milestones: he was inducted into the prestigious Raven Society, co-authored an article on the future of architectural education, and helped bring back TEDxUVA with two sold-out conferences. He successfully pitched and secured a Jefferson Trust grant with Professor Kyle Schumann to explore sustainable material innovations and was awarded the Susan Nelson Fleiss Travel Fellowship from the A-School. However, the most meaningful moment for Cole was receiving the Kishore Memorial Scholarship, which came with an outpouring of support from the UVA community during a personally challenging year.

Looking ahead, Cole will continue his work with the Public Service Pathways Student Advisory Council, serve as a student instructor assistant for ARCH 1010: Lessons of the Lawn, co-preside over the A-School student group manifestA, and represent students on the Arboretum and Landscape Committee in the Office of the Architect.

Cole extends his heartfelt thanks to the Parents Council for their continued support, which has made his UVA experience all the more meaningful.
