The socio-economic diversity made possible by scholarships and financial aid benefits all students—whether from affluent high schools, struggling rural schools, or international schools—as they interact in the classroom with students from different backgrounds and prepare for an increasingly diverse workplace.

Improved Graduation Rates

UVA’s financial aid program has contributed to a remarkable retention rate of 96.4 percent for undergraduate students, and a six-year graduation rate of 94 percent. UVA also has one of the highest graduation rates for African-American students in the country.

Enhanced National Reputation

The University of Virginia is nationally recognized for providing a world-class education at an affordable price. For the 11th consecutive year, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine places UVA among the top three public universities in the country in its 2018 Best College Value rankings.
