Eric Jang (Col ’23) is a recipient of the Captain Humayun Khan Memorial Bicentennial Scholarship. A member of the UVA ROTC and a psychology major—just like the late Humayun Khan (Col ’00)—Jang embodies the values this hero displayed on Grounds and throughout his life.

$10 Million Investment in Scholarships for the McIntire School of Commerce
University of Virginia alumnus and Board of Visitors member John A. Griffin has given $5 million to endow a series of need-based scholarships for McIntire School of Commerce undergraduates and to support the school’s Next Century Building Fund.

Changing the Face of Medicine
This scholarship is being established by Tonya Russell, School of Medicine Class of 2006, and her father, Sidney Russell. The scholarship is named to honor Tonya’s two grandmothers who never had the opportunity as Black women from rural Virginia and North Carolina to pursue higher education or careers in medicine. The scholarship is in memory of these two women and will support underrepresented students at the SOM.

In 1944, UVA alumna Lottie Pugh Colley began her career as a professional nurse. This is the story of her three sons who are honoring their mother’s memory by endowing the Colley Class of ’44 Scholarship in the UVA School of Nursing. One son is also supporting research into cardiology, hearing loss, and Alzheimer’s disease.
